11 Game of Thrones Inspired Yoga Poses To Prepare You For The 8th and Final Season

The Final Season of Game of Thrones is Here!

If you've been following the series then you are well aware that only 4 weeks stand between us and the end of an era of one of the greatest shows. Not only that, but the next episode is THE episode. Ya know, the one that'll put a lot of us in therapy, myself included if I have to see Tyrian or any major character for that matter, die. But let's face it, death is coming for many of the characters when the battle commences against the Night King's army; that's something we should all prepare for. In light of this, I thought I'd share some GOT inspired yoga poses in preparation. I call it... Game of "Oms"

With only 4 episodes left to go, and so many storylines to conclude, we can all expect things to move fast and with little mercy. We've all been so anxious to see who lives, who dies, and who will be the one to claim the throne. Scouring the internet looking for clues and reading into fan theories only heightens the excitement. A couple of quotes from the cast discussing Season 8 have me stressed out. Nathalie Emmanuel who plays Missandei - “So, this season is going to be incredibly satisfying for people. It is going to be incredibly exciting and heartbreaking.”


Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrian Lannister - “I won’t say their name or their character’s name, but one of the young people on the show wrapped this past season and everybody was a wreck,” “This person had grown up on the show, you know? They were a child and now they were an adult. And then they’re done. It’s like we were witnessing this person saying goodbye to their childhood.”

WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS?! I'm not sure who his therapist is, but can't we all just be like Bran? In Game of "Oms", my hopes are that the poses will entertain you like Tormund does; empower you like everyone getting ready in Winterfell right now; give you strength for the long night to come; along with providing some much needed contemplation and soothing for the massive destruction that's also to come.

Here are 11 Game of Thrones Inspired Yoga Poses

1. Winterfell Guarded Gate Pose (Gate Pose/Parighasana )

We all know what's coming for Winterfell next episode. Despite the massive defense preparations , the North needs all the men it can get. Join the cause and strike your best gate pose.


2. Downward Facing Direwolf Pose (Downward Dog/ Adho Mukha Svanasana)

In yoga, this is a pose we frequently return to. Despite a hiatus, Ghost is back everyone. He was always there when Jon needed him most, and I hope he continues to do so. (Maybe we'll even be graced by Nymeria's presence.) They say dire wolfs are men's best friend right? Return to this reliable pose whenever you need to feel secure.


3. Ser Brienne of Tarth Warrior 2 Pose (Virabhadrasana II)

Congrats to this inspiring warrior. Who didn't feel like choking up when Jaime officially knighted Ser Brienne of Tarth? Brienne, is kind, loyal, and above all else, stronger than most knights out there. Find your inner strength through this warrior 2 pose and get ready to witness the longest battle in TV history next episode.


4. Weirwood Tree Pose ( Vrkasana)

Stay rooted in your faith that the Night King will fall (hopefully). Weirwood trees apparently never rot after they're dead. Stand tall and strong with tree pose to feel ready to face any obstacles that may come your way.


5. Three-Eyed Raven Seated Stare Down (Sukhasana)

And the award goes to Bran Stark for throwing the most shade this season. Whatever anyone says, Bran is sure to have a one-liner for it. I don't know what changed so much in-between seasons, but Bran Stark is serving some cryptic man of mystery realness. It must be all that time spent meditating by the weirwood tree. Channel your inner three-eyed raven with seated pose and manifest the ending you want to see this season.


6. The Mountain Pose (Mountain Pose/Tadasana)

I'm so sick of this guy or thing. Let's all mock the Mountain for literally just standing there in nearly every episode. To join in, simply follow the aptly named mountain pose. Here's hoping we get to see the Hound successfully take care of this issue. Sorry not sorry Cersei.


7. Iron Throne Pose (Chair Pose/ Utkatasana)

Many have come for the throne, and few were successful. Find chair pose for a chance to feel like a King or Queen and imagine what it feels like to sit on the most sought after throne. Not gonna lie, wouldn't hate it if a Stark or Tyrian ended up claiming the throne.


8. Night King's Spear Pose (Warrior 3 / Virabhadrasana III )

Season 7 won't be the last time we witness the Night King's superior javelin skills. Here's hoping he doesn't bring down another dragon during the battle at Winterfell. Feel the Night Kings power and launch yourself into warrior 3 pose. Watch out Drogon.


9. Drogon's Dragon Pose (Lizard Pose / Utthan Pristhasana)

With the longest battle scene in history airing, we're bound to see a lot of badass dragon action. I'm ready to see how Drogon and Rhaegal fare against the now wight dragon, Viserion. Will Bran or even the Night King warg into one or all the dragons? Will Jon Snow battle for the first time riding on the back of a dragon? So many questions! Get fired up with lizard pose before the big battle begins.


10. The Seven Kingdoms Hero Pose (Hero Pose/Virasana )

The long night will end somehow. The season still has 3 episodes after the upcoming battle so a hero must arise somehow. The question is, who will it be? Jon? Daenerys? Jaime? Bran? Arya? The Night King is some weird twist?! No idea. Be your own savior when you take up hero's pose while we impatiently await the next protector of the seven kingdoms.


11. Corpse Pose (Savasana)

“I know death. He’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.” Arya, let me stop you right there. I'm not ready for the massacre that is coming for Winterfell. Newsflash! The crypts are not safe. Let us mourn all those who have fallen, and those who will fight honorably, with corpse pose. I imagine this it what all of us will look like by the time the scene ends. RIP everyone. Here are some of my sad predictions of who will fall next week: Arya, Podrick, Sir Davos, Tormund, Gilly and Little Sam, Jorah, Grey Worm, Ghost, Theon...and more.

Let's all take notes from Tyrian Lannister. If yoga isn't doing the trick in mentally, physically, and emotionally preparing you for this final season rest assured that there's always wine.

There you have it! Yoga meets Game of Thrones. I think the new season has been amazing so far with all of the cast reunions and nostalgic references. Here's hoping we'll all be able to pick up the pieces of what's left of us after episode 3.
